Because everyone deserves clean laundry!

hamperGlade assists those struggling financially by paying for their laundry through the Laundry Love program. Glade has found that in the neutral space of a laundromat, every guest and stranger can become a friend. Laundry Love, sponsored locally by the Glade family happens twice a month at The Arbors Laundromat, 777 Triangle Street (corner of Triangle Street and South Main Street).

We go to the laundromat on the first Sunday and third Sundays from 2-5 p.m. All are welcome to join us!

Want to volunteer for a one to one and a half hour shift at the laundromat?

History of the Program

When a homeless man in California was asked how some new friends could help him out, he said, “If I had clean clothes, people would respect me and treat me like a human being.” The friends took him to a laundromat and the Laundry Love project began. Since then, more than 600,000 loads of laundry have been done across the country and countless relationships have been formed in mutual care and love.

For those of us with easy access to a washer and dryer, laundry is just another chore to complain about, but for anyone struggling to get by, laundry can be a logistical and financial hardship, and unclean clothes can mean a loss of self-esteem. At a local laundromat, the cost of one load can range from $4-$8, a huge burden if you have to choose to wash clothes or buy groceries to feed your family. Glade began Laundry Love in the NRV in August 2015. Volunteers staff the laundromat during the hours of the program to regularly clean the clothes of people who struggle to afford to, including those living in shelters, on the streets, or in poverty. Our hope is that we won’t just be washing clothes, but also making new friends.
